Sole supplier of EUV (and now High-NA EUV) lithography needed for sub-3nm AI chips.
- EUV/High-NA lithography ASML's monopoly on extreme-ultraviolet lithography makes it the indispensable enabler of the advanced chips that power AI — no leading-edge AI silicon without ASML.
- Holistic litho & metrology AI-driven metrology, inspection and computational lithography (YieldStar) improve yields at the leading edge.
- High-NA EUV ramp Next-generation High-NA EUV systems extend Moore's Law for future AI-chip generations.
- A structural monopoly at the heart of the AI-chip supply chain — ROE ~52%.
- Every advanced AI chip depends on ASML tools, giving unmatched pricing power.
- Strong margins and free cash flow (~$8bn) with a large multi-year backlog.
- Semiconductor-capex cyclicality and China-export curbs are the main risks.
